Fodilicious are the UK’s FIRST freshly prepared Low Fodmap meals and are delivered across the whole country. The meals are full of only low fodmap ingredients, so we can feel safe and confident in every meal we eat, which to me is basically unknown unless I cook for myself. Fodilicious also create their recipes in partnership with a dietician, another massive tick from me! Fodilicious also offer vegetarian and vegan options too, so they really do cater for everyone!
I personally do like to make my own meals from scratch (since starting on the fodmap diet), as eating at home gives me lots more options and flavours. Dont’t get me wrong I love eating out but finding fodmap friendly dishes is not easy. The Fodilicious ready meals are so handy when you haven’t meal prepped or you are late home from work. Most of them take around 4 to 5 minutes in the microwave to cook. The meals have no added nasties or ingredients you can not read the name of, for example see below for the ingrediants in the Chicken Tikka Masala meal:
Chicken Breast, Cooked Basmati Rice (Water, Rice), Chopped Tomatoes, Coconut Milk, Garlic Infused Oil, Spring Onion (Green Tips), Fresh Coriander, Salt, Garam Masala, Ground Ginger
I was kindly sent five meals (of my choice) from the Fodilicious website and have reviewed all five meals below:
Chicken Tikka Masala
The Chicken Tikka Masala came with a side of rice. The curry had a lovely tomato flavour and the chicken was very tender. I definitely wished there was more as I could have eaten seconds! The rice was very fluffy and flavoursome. The curry was not too spicy which suited me, as I have never been great with spice (more the burning sensation in my mouth rather than anything else!).
Chicken Pesto Penne
The Chicken Pesto Penne dish has tender chicken breast with gluten free penne pasta, and a yummy pesto sauce. I haven’t found a pesto sauce that is low fodmap yet, so it was really great to be able to eat pesto again.
Spaghetti with Roasted Red Peppers
The Spaghetti with Roasted Red Peppers was the only meal I had a negative comment about. I found this meal a little tasteless, the gluten free spaghetti was nice but there was not much flavour from the sauce. I did freeze this meal and this could be the reason for the lack of flavour.
The Penne Arrabiata is made with Italian gluten free penne pasta in tomato, chilli, garlic (infused oil of course), spring onions (green bits only!) and basil sauce. Delicious! The meal is vegan and vegetarian so suitable for nearly everyone.
Thai Green Vegetable Curry
The Thai Green Vegetable Curry was more spicy than the Tikka Masala but had a lovely creamy flavour. The curry is full of vegetables. I have never actually had green thai curry before (pre or post fodmap) but thought this was great.
Each meal serves 1 person, and are dispatched for next day delivery, so they arrive fresh. I think these fresh meals are ground breaking for people on a low fodmap diet and I would definitley recommend trying them.
