Royal Parks Half: Training Plan Part 2

It’s just under a month now until the big day! So hopefully we have all got in our big runs, and we working to a taper down over the next few weeks.

I am feeling proud of myself for managing to get these big runs in, as I was not a runner until earlier this year. I have got up to just above and 19km (and a half marathon is 21km, roughly).

I was disappointed I didn’t get up to the full 21km but after speaking to a few experienced runners that I know, they have told me that you do not have to run the full distance of the race you are entering into.

As part of my tapering down running, I enjoyed a Royal Parks Half training event in the middle of September.

I learnt about pacers, what they do and how to use them to our advantage in the race. I got to run a 5km around Hyde Park, which ended up being a PB for me – making me very happy!!

The event was run with Lululemon, which meant the run was followed by yoga and then a talk from Runner’s Need.

I am feeling exhausted from all the training as my body isn’t used to the running, but I am making sure that I have my rest days and try and get as much sleep as possible.

I will do a final blog after the race, to let you know how I got on.

See you on the other side!!!
